Verdi's thrilling Shakespearean epic

Opera Idaho kicks off the new year with the theatrical powder keg that is Verdi's Macbeth. In the composer's interpretation of Shakespeare's tale of ruthless ambition, Macbeth follows the warrior Macbeth and his bloodthirsty wife as they murder their way to the throne. Brimming with operatic fireworks and passion, Kyu Won Han stars as the titular Macbeth, alongside Eleni Calenos as his loyal Lady Macbeth.

What is the story?

Thought to have first been performed in 1606, Macbeth is the story of a Scottish general who receives a prophecy from three witches that one day he will rule all of Scotland. Consumed by the idea, Macbeth and his wife Lady Macbeth do whatever it takes to make the prophecy come true, even if that means blood on their hands. But of course, their actions have consequences and both Macbeth and Lady Macbeth are driven into a state of madness before an explosive finale.
