What is Annie About?

As one of the orphans under the care of shambling drunk Miss Hannigan, eleven-year-old Annie is desperate to escape and find her real parents. When luck comes calling in the shape of billionaire Daddy Warbucks and his desire to treat an orphan to a proper Christmas, it looks like her search might be finally gaining momentum. Miss Hannigan on the other hand, isn't letting the little scamp get away that easily. REVIEW FOR SENIORS

I am 78 years old and saw ANNIE at the Fisher for the first time. The cast was first rate and the music was timeless. Because the story takes place in the thirties the younger audience did not appreciate the historical humor and some of the jokes fell on deaf ears. I on the other hand loved the humor. We sat in the balcony and the voices were so loud I couldn't understand all of the lyrics especially when the children were singing. I don't know if it was because we were in the balcony or not. Very enjoyable afternoon. I wondered why there was a ventriloquist on the radio. That struck my funny bone (old humor) and I laughed about it later. We took our nine year old granddaughter and her friend to the New Years Eve matinee in San Diego. The were amazed and applauded mightily for every number.
